For the Dads

Father's Day is only ten days away, so it's time to start putting on my thinking cap to find a great gift for the guy who whisks in to save the day at 5:30pm. Unfortunately, Alex won't be here for Father's Day due to a long work trip that he's on. I hate that he won't be here for his big day, but at least that buys us a little time to figure out what to get him. Man, do I hate shopping for dudes. It's impossible. It's one thing if the guy in your life has a hobby that he's really into, but it's another thing if your guy's biggest hobby is flying fighter jets. There isn't really anywhere to go from there that isn't going to be a disappointment. So I've really had to put my noggin to use this time.What is something every man loves?

Besides that.

I've never met a man who doesn't enjoy a Summer afternoon lounging around outside (Alex especially likes to hang out in the pool), so most of the things I came up with are for use outdoors. The only exceptions are the leather dopp kit and the cute coffee mug, which are classic gifts for the everyman.

I particularly love the floating cooler and the airplane float. But Alex travels a ton and could definitely use a new dopp kit (although there are some on Etsy where you can get a monogram stamped into the leather, so that may be even better). I just don't know. I have such a hard time buying for the fighter pilot who has everything he needs. And, like most men, he would probably prefer for me to get him the gift of not spending any money on a present for him. So he may just end up with socks. 

I hate that he won't be home to enjoy a big breakfast made just for him and an afternoon of fun, but on the bright side, he will have the option to be alone in a hotel room and to sleep all day and watch tv. And I wouldn't trade that for all the socks in the land.
