I'm Annette--wifey to Alex, and mama to Bob & Viv.

Born and raised in the abyss of South Georgia, I am the product of a farm family that always kept me on the edge of my seat. As my daddy always says, "Life is a fluid situation.You can't plan for it." So although I am a typical type-A firstborn, I have learned to chill out a bit and take things as they come. I high-tailed it out of my hometown and traded the slow life for Athens, where I graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in English. You know, because you can't go wrong in this day and age with a liberal arts degree. I did the typical sorority girl move--met my husband in a college bar--and it was love at first beer. Seven short years later we were married in true Steel Magnolias fashion, and then we moved to Okinawa, Japan, where he flew the F-15c while I explored the finer points of living on a remote island (read: day boozing). A couple of years later we decided to add to our family, and we had 2 babies in less than 2 years. Go big or go home.

Currently, we are stationed back in the South, and I'm living the charmed life as a domestic engineer, cake baker, bow crafter, military wifey, mama to Bob & Vivi, Etsy shop owner, traveling grammarian, and writer of nonsense. I live for naps, White Russians, and eating whipped cream from the can. It's a good thing I was raised on a farm, because much of being a military wife mirrors farm life--you never know what tomorrow will bring, plans can change at the drop of a hat, and pretty much everything depends on the weather. I have gotten better at reining in frustrating and keeping an open mind and schedule, but I'm learning more patience every day.

Most of this blog revolves around cake, the beasties, motherhood, holidays, and spray paint. In my posts I hope to make you laugh, coo, and drool. Mainly because that's all I get all day anyway. But please don't cry, because I can't take any more of that today.
