Easter Sunday Scheming

Monday, March 23, 2015

Easter is one of my very favorite holidays. Dare I say that I enjoy decorating for it even more than Christmas? That's a bold statement, but it may actually be true. I love getting out eggs, clipping hydrangeas, and hosing my home down in pastels. I've been doing lots of little DIY decor projects to get us in the Easter spirit, and when March 21st rolled around, I did a little jig.

I've also been obsessed with Essie's Turquoise & Caicos.
There's something about little kids in pastel church clothes that I can't get enough of. This was one of the reasons I wanted to have kids. So I could dress them like this.
The lamb was just an added bonus.
This picture of Bobby will forever hold a place in my heart and on our wall-of-fame. Since this is the first year that both babies will be present for Easter, I knew that I really wanted to make it one to remember.
I've been scouring for just the right sibling outfits for Easter Day. I don't know how people do things now, but Easter was a big to-do when I was growing up. I'd wake up to a mountain of candy and a few other goodies in an Easter basket. I could literally write an entire post dedicated to my affinity for Easter candy (it's the best of all the season candies), but I will spare you.
After indulging in my first sugar high of the morning, I would go put on the Easter Dress. The best dress in a little girl's closet was her Easter Dress. I recall always feeling glorious and grand in my Easter finery every year. My mama would put my hair in those little sponge rollers overnight, and I'd wake up with Shirley Temple hair before she would brush it out and spray it. I sometimes wore a hat, and, if I recall correctly, even had gloves one year. Patent leather shoes were a must. Boys wore suspenders and bow ties. Church pews were dotted in pastels. The flowers in the pulpit were the most majestic selection of the year. It was a big to-do.

After church, we would head over to my Grandmother's house to have a grand lunch on her back porch, where feasted on pineapple casserole, ham, fried chicken, shrimp salad, ambrosia, and coconut cake. Afterward, we would hunt for eggs and pass out following our sugar high.

Naturally, things change; but there are many of my childhood Easter memories that I want to pass on to my own children. There are a few traditions I would like to carry on, such as Easter church, lunch, and an egg hunt. And ESPECIALLY the fabulous Easter duds. Here are some of my favorites.

*You'll notice a wide variety of pricing going on here. In our house, Easter is the one time to indulge in obnoxious price tags. And that's because grandparents are usually footing the bill ;)

Now that the kiddos are spiffed up, remember that Mom & Dad have to look good, too! My second favorite part of Easter Sunday is seeing Southern guys in seersucker and bow ties. There's nothing better. And even as an adult, putting on my Easter dress is still special. I can't wait to wear the white, lace dress below :)

I am looking forward to feeling like a "real" adult and hosting Easter Sunday lunch at our house for the first time! I'm waffling back and forth between a couple of cake concepts, but I have high hopes. I am praying for comfortable, sunny weather so that we can let the kiddos hunt for eggs in our back yard.

We've had lots of orders for fun, Easter bows and headbands lately. All of them have shipped off and should be reaching their new homes within a few days!
Don't forget that our free shipping deal ends tomorrow! There's still time to get goodies before Easter! Head on over to Little Peach Bows to browse, and remember to enter FREESHIP1 at checkout.

Hope y'all have a wonderful week and enjoy the warm, Spring weather! I'm praying that I pass the last of these kidney stones ASAP. Oh yeah, did I not mention I have kidney stones? It's so easy to forget.

Anyhow, keep on keepin' on!
